The Latin American Journal of Scientific Diffusion dedicates Volume 6 to the exaltation of Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán, commemorating the centenary of his birth. He was born in Maracaibo on February 18, 1924, being the most important Venezuelan scientist of the 20th century.

I am an optimist, and although this semi-dark and merciless era seems to deny everything positive about the past, the human species will continue to evolve with the help of God and despite planetary cataclysms. Far from an apocalyptic vision – so popular in our century – I believe that the future holds unsuspected developments for us. The coming millennium will have great pains, but also deep joys, since we barely experience a glimpse of this cosmic expansion.
